Suburb Profiles
Overview
With the NSW government plans to revitalize Vineyard, this suburb is becoming a wonderful new community. By developing a new primary school, around 27 hectares for playing fields, parks, and cycleways, a village centre, and approximately 2,300 new homes, Vineyard will be a dynamic and modern community.
Vineyard, located 50 kilometers west of Sydney’s central business district, falls within the City of Blacktown and partly in the City of Hawkesbury, forming part of the Greater Western Sydney region. It is bordered to the west by Eastern Creek, which flows into South Creek, a tributary of the Hawkesbury River.
The suburb derives its name from its history as part of Windsor’s winegrowing district. The first vineyard in the area was established by John Paul Ouvrier, a French immigrant who arrived with his two sons in the 1830s. Ouvrier, who later became a naturalized Australian, contributed to the region’s early wine production and agricultural development.
Today, Vineyard is set to grow beyond its rural roots, with planned infrastructure and housing developments enhancing its appeal as a burgeoning suburb in Sydney’s west.
