Kenthurst

Kenthurst is a wonderful community centred around local schools and pre-schools, the Rotary Club of Kenthurst, various Sporting Clubs and the Rural Fire Service.

Situated some 39 kms north west of the Sydney Central Business District it forms part of the Hills District region and sits within The Hills Shire Council local government area. It forms part of a unique and varied region within close proximity to Rouse Hill Town Centre, Norwest Business Park and the Castle Hill shopping precinct. Easy access to modern road networks link the area to the Sydney CBD and suburbs and regions in all directions via the M1, M4 & M7 motorways.

Originally known as Little Dooral, then Little Dural, a public meeting was held in 1886 to discuss a change to a more sophisticated name. Kent Forest was suggested as a number of early settlers in the area were from Kent County but after much discussion and some variations, Kenthurst was chosen and successfully changed in 1887.

The suburb is predominantly semi rural in nature. Residential homes surround the shopping complex and park area with the remainder of the suburb being mostly 5 acre parcels.

Kenthurst has a wonderful sense of Community. Each year in September, the main street is closed for the traditional Orange Blossom Festival march which is enjoyed by children and adults alike culminating in a fair in the park. The Australia Day Ceremony, ANZAC Day commemorations and Carols by Candlelight at Christmas enjoy capacity crowds in Rotary Park.

In short, the area offers residents a remarkable rural lifestyle with all the conveniences of urban living.
